Taking a deeper look into CV values, especially now that Free Agency has opened, it appears incredibly difficult to beat 1 year deals with multi years deals.
For example: 1 year at 20M will be 20 CV 2 years needs to be 17M per year (20.4 CV) 3 years needs to be 14.5M per year (20.3 CV) 4 years needs to be 13.0M per year (20.8 CV)
I propose the following CV Multipliers: 1 year = 0.5 2 year = 1.2 3 year = 1.4 4 year = 1.6
This will allow the following multi year deals to beat the same 1 year deal shown in the example above.
1 year at 20M per year (10 CV) 2 year at 8.5M per year (10.2 CV) 3 year at 7.5M per year (10.5 CV) 4 year at 6.5M per year (10.4 CV)
I believe we will continue to see free agencies where teams will be unloading money at 1 year deals and teams that wish to offer multi year deals do not stand a chance. No one in their right mind would currently offer 4 years at 13.0M per year for someone, but they make think about doing 4 years at 6.5M per year.
I understand this would not be in effect until next free agency, but it's something we should at least look into. I am open to all comments and suggestions. Feel free to double check my math too!

my only comment is if we are trying to replicate real life which it was my understand ... no one would take 6.5m over 20m.
I dont think we should rush to make changes based on the thinnest free agency class this league will ever see. We need to at least get a few years in before we change the entire structure of things.

using the same 8.5 for 2 years, I could cut him after year one and I basically beat a 20m 1 year deal with a 12m 1 year deal - 3 year 7.5m do the same thing and it costs you 15m for 1 year. So we either would have to change the buyout procedures or something to level this out.
So the 1 year deal value has to come up somewhat or it makes no sense.
