Before we head into the offseason, let's look over any rules that may need to be added, altered, or removed. We have a few suggestions already but please feel free to drop anything you would like to be considered or leave a comment on the suggestions that have been offered up already. Nothing here is definitely going to change; this thread is just to discuss or suggest potential changes to the rules.
1. Removing Cap Hits for Players on Injured Reserve
( by @daphud )
This was suggested early last offseason and some changes have been made already to compromise with this. Injured Reserve spots have been extended to unlimited spots and offseason roster restrictions have been eliminated. If anybody still feels that this is a necessity, please leave a comment below. 2. Defensive Scoring Additions & Modifications
( by Cardinals GM (Luke) )
As Luke mentioned, it really is no secret that LBs dominate defensive scoring. I'm not sure QB Hits are a stat we are able to add on Fantrax but altering other stats may be beneficial to DL / DB scoring. Would love additional opinions on this. Here's a link to Luke's proposed changes: franchisenfl.boards.net/thread/3061/defensive-scoring-additions-modifications-2022
3. Free Drops on RFA Contracts
( by Ravens GM (Connor) )
The new rookie salary scale will be a huge benefit to the dead period that we have during RFA, with typically only one or two players even being bid on in a given year. The downside to that new rookie scale is we have the potential of 96 players hitting RFA every season beginning in 2023. Obviously not all 96 players are going to be worth tendering, so my proposal is to allow all players on RFA contracts to be dropped penalty free (similar to Blitz). This should give some incentive to dump busts before they get to RFA, saving myself and everyone else extra work when it comes to tendering, bidding on, and matching RFA players.
4. Change Fantrax Eligibility to Primary Position Only
( by Ravens GM (Connor) )
I don't feel this one is as necessary as the previous rule change suggestion, but is worth considering when looking at Fantrax position eligibility. It has very little affect on offensive players, but many IDPs (specifically DL / DB) have multi-position eligibility on Fantrax when they do not play more than one position IRL. This is especially true for rookies, as most DL and nearly every DB has positional eligibility at both DT/DE or CB/S. This change (paired with a change in IDP scoring) would make roster building much more strategic, rather than being able to set a full lineup without a true DT or CB each week. Position eligibility appeals would still be allowed as Fantrax is not always 100% accurate with their positional designations.
