AFC East -- Patriots are heavy favorites after free agency and will continue to be through the end of the offseason. The Jets should be able to add on defense and be a respectable wild card contender, but likely don't have the draft or cap assets to make multiple big additions without moving productive players on their end. Miami has the draft capital to improve but already has cap & roster limitations to deal with, and the Bills have the cap to make big moves but don't have the assets they need to bring in productive players in 2022.
(1) New England Patriots
AFC North -- Ravens closed the gap with a busy FA period, while the other three teams were very quiet during the past week. The Bengals were the only other team to make any moves and those signings (& trade) are the difference between them and the rest of the division at this point. Cincinnati is down to just a late pick and less than $2M in cap space, so there will be an opportunity for the other three teams to make a push over the next couple of months. The Ravens have plenty of draft capital and Cleveland / Pittsburgh each have over $20M to work with.
(1) Cincinnati Bengals
AFC South -- The Titans filled arguably their biggest need by signing Jamal Adams, further separately themselves in a tier above the rest of the league. Houston is right up against the cap but much of their improvement is going to need to come from younger players on the roster already, particularly at QB/LB. The Colts are a starting QB/TE away from being a really solid wild card team, but seem unlikely to make any moves for players on one year deals. The Jags made a couple *interesting* FA signings, but seem like they may be destined to try and #BustForBijan.
(1) Tennessee Titans
AFC West -- The Broncos still have needs on the offensive side of the ball but trading for Stafford was a huge boost for them, and a big part of the difference to this point. Post-FA, the Chargers & Raiders essentially have opposite needs, but each team has 4+ top 65 picks to be able to fill some of those holes through the draft. Kansas City has reclaimed their spot at the bottom of the power rankings and they currently have needs at every position outside of CB. This division should be a fun one to watch in the draft, with multiple teams on QB watch in the first round.
