NFC East -- Both Philly & Dallas had a busy week of FA, adding pieces on both sides of the ball & jumping into one of the top tiers in the NFC. Both teams are limited on cap and likely will need to fill any remaining holes through the draft. The Commanders will be able to close some of the gap with their two picks but trading out of those selections seems like the best way for them to improve their roster, as they have more than just two positions that could be upgraded. The Giants plan to #BustForBijan, but it may be difficult with many of their 2021 draftees being hits (specifically on defense) and 5 more picks in the first two rounds this year added to that.
(1) Philadelphia Eagles
NFC North -- Chicago made no FA moves, and they didn't need to, as they stayed in the same PR position they were in a week ago. The Packers & Lions should each be in position to at least contend for wild card positions in the NFC, but Detroit may need to commit to Kenny Pickett in the draft to ensure they have a QB for week 1. The Packers aren't perfect, but being the only top 29 team without a kicker is one of the bigger reasons they are sitting outside of the top 10 overall. Minnesota will jump up a few spots post-draft with all of their selections, but don't look like they will be a playoff contender until next season.
(1) Chicago Bears
NFC South -- The Falcons were pushing Tampa Bay for the top spot in the division earlier this month, but limited cap space didn't allow them to be active at all in free agency. The Bucs didn't add a ton, but still retained the top spot in the conference despite that. Budda Baker was a nice addition to the Panthers, but Carolina still has a massive need at RB after adding no depth at the position during the past week. The Panthers may look to go that direction with their first round pick, while the Falcons should also be on QB watch in round one. The Saints made no signings and look like their run of four consecutive playoff appearances may be coming to an end. Look for them to be sellers as the offseason / season progresses.
(1) Tampa Bay Buccaneers
NFC West -- Like the AFC West, this division has three teams in the mix to win it and all four teams should be interesting to watch during the draft. The Cardinals were the biggest FA winners of the group, putting themselves in position to finally break into the postseason in 2022. Seattle is also good again, but still not quite as good as they were two months ago. Not every Seahawk move makes sense, but it will make for a good division race this fall. San Francisco didn't add anyone outside of Hargrave and will need to address their WR/RB needs through the draft. The Rams do have the best draft capital of the group, but will need to hit on a number of these picks early to close the gap with the rest of the division.
